7 Steps To Better Networking

How do you network and build relationships
effectively?

First: Really be a QUALITY person.

What's that mean?

Be genuine. Continue to educate yourself. Treat
others like you want to be treated.

Second: Be interested in people. Ask questions. Get
them talking about themselves. Remember the details
that they find important.

Third: Listen. Shut up;) Let people talk about themselves.

Fourth: Add value to others lives. Make sure that they're
better off by knowing you. Figure out what the other
person values and what they are really passionate about.

Whenever you can – add value there.

Fifth. Find out who can add value to your life. Better to
meet 1-2 great contacts than collect 30 business cards but
foster no real relationships.

Sixth: Give without expectation of a payback.

Go above and beyond with those whom you decide to network.

If you give without immediate expectation of payback your
contributions will be perceived as sincere – because they
are sincere.

Seventh. Follow-up. When you meet someone new – drop them
a note. Doesn't have to be anything fancy – just nice meeting
you or thank you for your contribution, etc.

Make notes about their interests and needs. When you come
across an article, book, or contact that might be valuable then
send it or call them with this information or contact.

Being an effective networker can transform your career – and
your life if you're willing to become great at it.
