A Lesson From Disney

Holly, Tyler and I are heading off to Disney World
the day after Christmas for a brief vacation to cap
off a wonderful 2009 and 'relax' a bit before 2010.

Well imagine my surprise when I received an email
from Disney today saying that our resort accommodations
had been upgraded at no charge.

I called to follow up. It was true. We'd been upgraded at
no additional cost.

I decided to see what the difference was between the
vacation package we'd booked and the one we'd been
upgraded to – I checked on their website…

…about $1800.

I already felt pretty strongly about Disney. I've read
about 10 books on their business practices and on
Walt Disney.

As you can imagine, I feel even more strongly now;)

So how can you apply this type of thing to your business?

I'd say that you should simply give a little extra whenever
you can.

I'm sure it doesn't cost Disney $1800 to upgrade us, but
the goodwill it generated will easily payoff with us
continuing to vacation there over all the other options.

So think of ways to can overdeliver.

Give whenever you can.

It certainly has worked out ok for Disney.

Dedicated to your success –

Pat

P.S. - Are you coming? I hope so…
