Are You Doing Enough?

I'm not sure I can convey what I want in an email - this might
have been better suited for a blog post, but I'll give it a shot.

If you want to enact change in people you need to be willing to
go the extra mile.

I'd bet 99% of personal trainers don't do enough to enact real
change in people.

They deliver workouts - like a barber delivers a haircut.

If you want to bring about real change you have to do more.

You have to build relationships with clients.

You have to educate them.

You have to empower them for the 23 hours a day they're not
with you.

To help your clients change you have to be relentless.

Hit (not literally) them from all angles.

You've got to make sure they 'get it.'

After working at a University for the better part of a decade, I can
tell you that plenty of professors 'talk at' their students, not really
caring what the students learn.

Mostly happy to hear their own voices.

However the great ones - the ones that change students lives - are
the ones that focus on what the students learn.

You should be the same way.

The ability to get someone tired... anyone can do that.

Even the worst of trainers can wear people out.

Are you getting people better?

That's the question.

Before I wrap up - you may wonder what this has to do with business.

In a word: Everything.

Dedicated to your success -

Pat

P.S. - In case you wondered, that's why the IYCA created the new
Youth Nutrition Specialist Certification.

Young athletes won't reach their potential without that piece to the
puzzle, so as trainers and coaches we have to lead them.
