Sometimes People Just Don’t Get It

In the past 2 days I've received a couple of
interesting emails.

The first one was in response to the blog post I
put up on www.PatNickandJim.com.

The subscriber said "But attending all of those
Perform Better events, reading the books they
recommend and going to your Fast Track to Fitness
Mil.lions event would get kind of expensive."

Hmmmm...

The second email was about a product of ours and
it went like this:

"Is Mega Marketing For Fitness Professionals
really worth the investment?"

Double Hmmmm....

I'm not really sure what to make of emails like
this, but the first thing that comes to mind is
this:

Do you really think you're saving mon.ey by not
educating yourself about becoming a better
trainer or better business person?

One more session sold covers the expense of many
books or products.

One sale of a decent training program covers the
expense of attending a seminar.

Don't you think learning how to better deliver
results or close more prospects will sell more
sessions and programs?

It's not about what it costs you to purchase or
attend.

It's what it costs you not to.

Right now Holly is in California as part of a 2K
per month coaching program.

I just joined a $1500 per month mastermind group.

When it comes to investing in yourself, obviously
we're firm believes in the value.

In fact, my buddy Damon Moschetto asked me last
week about the value of he & his wife attending
the Cosgrove's internship.

I said it was a no-brainer.

And Damon consults with HUNDREDS of fitness
facilities each year.

If someone who gets to see behind the scenes in
hundreds of facilities each year can benefit from
a week learning about running a facility, I think
most of us could benefit from investing in
continuing education.

OK - I'll get off my soapbox for now and wish
you a happy weekend. I'm going to hang out with
Tyler and have some 'guy time' while Holly is
gone.

Have a great weekend!

Pat

P.S. - If you think your continuing education
plan should include learning how to market your
business online, the Market Annihilator program
closes tonight at midnight so you'd better act
fast.

Thinning of the Herd

Have you ever given any thought to how young
our profession is?

I'd say we're at about the second generation
when it comes to fitness professionals and
strength coaches.

Think about how many generations of doctors,
lawyers nurses and other professionals there
have been.

And we're essentially just at the beginning when
it comes to fitness.

This is an incredible opportunity for you if you
take your profession seriously. You can certainly
ascend through the ranks more quickly. The top
experts are more accessible. There's even less
quality competition.

But that brings me to my next point. Things are
evolving quickly in our industry. The best are
separating themselves more quickly because there
isn't yet a defined path for everyone to follow.

The motivated attend seminars and workshops.

The unmotivated stay home.

The motivated study relentlessly.

The unmotivated watch TV instead.

Right now is the best opportunity you will ever
have in this industry to separate yourself from
the herd - yes, even with the current economy.

See, the current economy will drive a few people
out of the industry that, to put it nicely, weren't
representing us well.

It will drive out some great trainers and coaches
that didn't put enough time into business education
too, but far fewer than the folks that should've been
doing something else anyway.

But what will really limit your opportunity to reach
success more quickly isn't the current economy. Nope,
it's the point when studying and attending seminars
is the rule rather than the exception.

At that point you won't be able to separate yourself
from the rest simply by doing what you should be doing
already.

So right now you have an opportunity to get a head
start - read the blog post at

http://www.PatNickandJim.com

Attend events like the www.FastTrackToFitnessMillions.com.

Go to Perform Better events. Study as much as you can.

Head out to the Cosgrove's and do their internship
or intern with Mike Boyle.

Just don't settle for the status quo. Otherwise you'll
soon be getting passed by.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

Pro is up at http://www.PatNickandJim.com.

Do you give it away?

First off - the blog post I mentioned yesterday
is generating some buzz - if you think it's something
that other fitness pros should see, let them know
about it:

http://www.PatNickandJim.com

Part Two will be up tomorrow.

OK - I was checking our Bill Hartman and Mike
Robertson's I-FAST site and Mike had made a
post about the power of offering a two week
fr.ee trial.

I honestly don't remember if they got that idea
from me when we consulted, but I'd be surprised
if I didn't influence them in offering it since I preach
offering fr.ee trials to anyone that will listen.

Why am I such a proponent of fr.ee trials?

Easy - it lets you make your service your biggest
marketing asset.

There is no three letter sequence, no newspaper ad
or 60 second radio spot that can build as much
value in your programs as spending a few - even
just a couple - sessions with you.

This approach is even more powerful in the current
economy since people are at least scrutinizing their
purchases a bit more.

So let me ask - are you offering a fr.ee trial?
If not - email me back and tell me why.

I'll accept "I'm full and can't take any more clients."

I'll accept "I don't really want to make any more
mo.ney."

Otherwise, I'd love to hear why you don't use the
biggest marketing tool at your disposal.

However - if you are, email and tell me how it's
working...I'd love to hear about your results.

Do me a favor and add any of your best tips and
resources in the comments area as well.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - I've been a bit tied up with post IYCA Summit
stuff and prep for the Fast Track event and haven't
even talked to Chris McCombs about how many spots

The Biggest Lesson Of All

There are probably a dozen things I could share
that I learned this weekend at the IYCA International
Summit.

Actually probably 3 or 4 times that many.

But my biggest take away from this past weekend
is this:

Relationships Are Everything

See, this weekend wasn't like any other conference
I've attended - and I've often shared how much
I've enjoyed other events.

This seemed more like an educational, inspirational
family reunion than a conference.

I'd guess I personally hugged at least 175 of the 200
attendees. No exaggeration. If you were there you
know.

Anyone who wanted it got my personal cell number.

Sound a little different than the way most people
run their businesses?

A few years back I worked on a project with a guy
that approached relationships with his customers
a lot like Dan Kennedy talks about...no personal
contact, reach my assistant by fax, etc.

He valued his privacy - heck I couldn't even get
a hold of him most of the time.

That worked for him. He did well then and does
well now.

I love much of Dan Kennedy's stuff.

But that wasn't for me.

I'm about relationships.

I loved that presenters like Carlo Alvarez - who is
the best high school strength coach in country - was
asking all sorts of attendees questions and trying to
learn from them.

I loved that one of the best coaches I've ever met (and
another presenter) Dave Jack - seemed to personally
make friends with all 200 attendees.

I loved the fact that there wasn't anyone in attendance
that didn't seem to be 100% committed to not only
building their own business - but also committed to
making a difference and helping the others in the room.

I'll share dozens more testimonials later, but here's
what one of the fitness pros I respect most - Brian
Calkins - had to say:

The weekend proved to be the most inspirational
conference I've attended in my career. The quality
of the presenters was simply the best, bar none. I
tip my cap to all of you, and anticipate ground
shaking, industry revolutionary impact from the
IYCA.

I could be wrong, but I don't think simply providing
information gets that type of response.

I've seen it in Holly's business too. There are women
setting up Fit Yummy Mummy groups around the country,
organizing FYM get togethers and she goes on shopping
trips with her 'customers.'

Heck, a bunch of them are coming to our house in April
for a get together.

So what's the moral of this story?

Build relationships. They're not prospects - they're
people.

They're not clients - they're friends.

Maybe that doesn't work for you...and that's ok.

But it works for me and I saw first-hand this
weekend that it worked for a lot of other people.

So no matter what - spend a little more time
investing in people...you'll get no better return
than the one that investment provides.

Your Friend,

Pat

I wish you were here!

I'm sitting in the back of the room at the IYCA
International Summit and watching Dr. Kwame
Brown talk about re-infusing play back into kids
lives and taking a moment to reflect on how great
a weekend this has already been.

Yesterday David Jack, Lee Taft, Carlo Alvarez
Chris Mohr and I all talked to a packed house
here in Louisville.

Today Pat Beith, Kim McCullough and Nick Berry
have the crowd on their feet and even briefly in
tears.

All in all, this has been one of the best things I've
ever been a part of.

The fitness professionals at the IYCA Summit are
as passionate about making a difference as any
group in the world.

I talk a lot about relationships in business...well,
I feel like my family just grew by about 200 people.

If you're not here...I wish you were.

If you are here...you already know what I'm talking
about.

This weekend is one more reminder of how important
it is to belong to something bigger. To be passionate
about what you do.

If you aren't attending events like the IYCA Summit,
change that fast.

It will make a huge difference in your career and it
will inspire you to think bigger and make an even
more profound difference in people's lives.

So I hope you're having a great weekend...I know I am;)

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Brian, Nick, Pat Beith, Lee Taft and I will also
be speaking at the Fast Track To Fitness Mil.lions event
in May. I hope to see you there:

It’s All Who You Know

With every passing day I'm in business, the more
convinced that it's all who you know.

I'm doing a talk today at the IYCA Summit on
building youth fitness profit center and I'll be
talking about how I'd do it here in Louisville
since I just moved here and only know about
12 people in town.

How would I get started...I'd network.

I'd ask every person I do know if they're
involved in any of the youth sports orgs or if
they know
someone who is.

I'd ask them if their church had any youth sports
leagues and if so, could they introduce me to
people involved.

I'd get in touch with the local youth sports
league directors. In fact, when we took Tyler to
sign up for baseball a couple of weeks ago, when
they asked me if I'd ever coached before and I
mentioned I had...before you knew it they were
trying to get me to do clinics and help with
tryouts.

Pretty quick way to build that network;)

So get involved...go to games, meet coaches and
don't miss out on your biggest marketing
tool of all relationship building.

I think that if you become a super networker, do
some public speaking (group networking),
toss in some publicity (fr.ee press releases) and
figure out some local online marketing - your
'client getting' problems will forever be solved.

Notice I didn't mention direct mail, ads or
anything else that costs a bunch of muney.

So go get to know some folks and watch your
business grow.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Chris McCombs is about to open the doors
up for 75 new members to his Market Annihilator
program. I think I cover the networking thing
well.

Jim is awesome at public speaking and publicity.
Chris is the go to guy for generating leads
online.

Is Copywriting Bad?

I read a blog post the other day that my buddy
Mike Robertson did about growing your business
by focusing on becoming a great trainer or coach.

I understand exactly what he was getting at. A lot
of times people get the cart ahead of the horse and
don't ever bother getting good at their craft.

For our industry to improve then we must get better
at what we do. Getting clients results is the foundation
of all fitness professionals' businesses.

In fact, I'll be doing a big blog post next week where
some of the best in the business - guys like Alwyn
Cosgrove & Mike Boyle - share their tips on becoming
better as a professional.

I think it will probably be the most important post
I've ever done.

But I will tell you that I don't think this makes marketing
bad. Not even close.

It doesn't need to be one way or the other...

'I'm a great trainer / coach.'

-or-

'I'm a great marketer.'

I'd say you'll be well served trying to become both.

But I will warn you with a line I emailed to Alwyn
last week ...

'If you owned a restaurant and the food sucked, great
marketing would just put you out of business faster...'

So start with becoming a better trainer or coach.

But don't ignore learning about business and marketing
along the way...otherwise no one will ever benefit from
what you've learned.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - As I mentioned, you shouldn't be focusing on
copywriting if you're not proficient at delivering
results to your clients yet. But if you have spent a lot of
time becoming a better trainer and want to learn
more about copywriting, Chris McCombs has done
a f.r.e.e video tutorial about copywriting here:

Doors Will Swing Wide Open

I just got off the phone with Bryan Doberdruk,
a young man that will be attending the IYCA
International Summit this weekend.

Bryan is in his last semester of college (at the
University I was the baseball coach at) and is
passionate about pursuing a career in fitness.

So after he finishes up a quiz tomorrow evening
he's going to hop in the car and drive about three
and a half hours to attend the Summit.

I don't know Bryan's financial situation, but 3 nights
at the hotel we're holding the Summit at isn't just
a drop in the bucket for most college students.

But I'm guessing that Bryan will make his investment
back 100 times over within the next couple of years.

See, not only is he going to be able to see some incredible
presentations from some of the world's top youth fitness
experts, but he's also going to be able to network with
about 200 top notch fitness pros.

Do you think that might open some doors for him as
he's starting out in the profession?

He'll get to talk to guys like Wil Fleming and Ryan
Ketchum that are only a couple of years older than
him and have already built an incredible business.

Heck - while I was writing Wil & Ryan sent over a
message that they just closed a deal to train 60
athletes.

Think contacts like that might be worth something?

So if you're coming to the Summit, be sure to say
hello to Bryan, Wil, Ryan and as many people as you
can.

Networking has been the lifeblood of our business
success.

I suspect that it's going to be the lifeblood of Bryan's.

It should be the lifeblood of yours.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - It's too late to plan a trip to the IYCA Summit
unless you live close, but we already have opened up
the next big opportunity to build relationships like I
just discussed - Fast Track To Fitness Mil.lions LIVE.

We've already filling up over half of the available seats,

A Cool Tip For Creating A Buzz

I've been tied up all day long with some final
preparations for the IYCA International Summit.

Since you've been so patient with my erratic email
schedule the past couple of days, I thought I'd send
you a cool tip to generate some buzz around your
training business.

By now hopefully you've figured out that recognizing
your members is a great way to show appreciation,
improve retention and increase referrals.

But here's a way that you can automatically generate
some buzz about your business...

1. If you don't have a Facebook profile, set one
now. Once you have one (or if you already do),
make sure that as many of your clients as possible
are your friends on Facebook.

2. Post pictures and videos about your camps or from
your training sessions on facebook and 'tag' the
clients featured so the pics and videos show up
on their profile.

That's it. Once you've done this all of their
friends will be able to see the pics and videos.
So even if they're shy about referring new business,
this is a great way to spread the message about
what you're doing.

If you want to ramp it up a bit, feature a member
of the week. Once their pic is tagged and it shows
up on their site, make a comment congratulating
them. Before long other clients and their
friends will follow suit with congratulatory
comments.

This will make the recognized client feel great and
generate more visibility for your business.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - If you want a good laugh, Chris McCombs shot
a video of him going in and applying for a job as a
trainer in a health club. He's a funny guy...see for
yourself here:

Everyone’s A Winner!

Want a simple way to generate buzz within your
business, accelerate your client's results and get
a ton of testimonials?

Hold a Transformation Contest!

There is no better way I know of to get people
excited about their fitness program than some
sort of transformation challenge.

The first ones that I can remember are Bill Phillips
old EAS spokesperson contests, which later evolved
into the Body For Life Challenge.

Now, tons of fitness pros are holding transformation
contests offline and online. In fact, Holly's
Transformation Challenge has been so well received,
she holds them one after another.

Why do these work so well...I can't say for sure, but
here's my guess:

:: There is a defined endpoint. People want to see the
light at the end of the tunnel and 12 week challenges
provide that.

:: There is social support. Most challenges have a coach
and a number of participants. If a lot of people are doing
this with you it makes it easier to stick to it.

:: It's a challenge. Some people thrive on the competitive
part of being involved in something like a contest.

:: Social Proof. If you've run a content or challenge before
people can see the results those people got in the same
timeframe.

So integrate a transformation contest or challenge into your
business. Many of your clients will get better results, you'll
generate some buzz around your business and you'll get a
bunch of great before and after pics!

So my challenge to you is this: How fast can you get your
contest up and running?

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Chris McCombs is holding his own contest where
you can win a year of his Market Annihilator coaching
program. You can check it out here:

Why Do Fitness Businesses Fail?

Saturday, Nick and I went to our health club in
Owensboro, KY. It was our first trip to the club
(about 90 minutes away) since early November.

We needed to go meet with our manager Lisa,
and we also interviewed a group fitness instructor
from a local gym that is going out of business.

This is the second of our local competitors that
is going under since the first of the year.

Both of these gyms are about the same size as us
and one opened within a month of our opening
about 4 years ago, while the other had been around
long before we went into business.

After interviewing this lady I completely understood
why the gym went out of business.

They ran their business like a hobby.

They didn't have systems in place to generate new
members, close sales or maximize retention and
referrals.

I'd talked to the owner of the other gym that went
out of business recently when we were inquiring
about purchasing his memberships, and his problems
were the same - if not worse.

I'm pretty sure he opened a gym just so he'd have a
place to workout.

He had no idea about any of the information a business
owner should know - closing percentage, where his leads
came from, etc.

He didn't even keep a list of the people who toured his
gym.

Both of these people I talked to blamed the economy
on their businesses failure -but it wasn't the economy
that made them do a bad job running their businesses.

During the same period they were struggling, we've been
experiencing our best couple of quarters ever.

We're all in the same area - one of the gyms is literally
two blocks away.

Our gyms are all pretty much the same size.

How's the economy not hurting us while it's killing
them?

It's not.

The economic downturn was just what finally
pushed both of these businesses over the edge.

If you want to thrive while your competitors flounder,
it's not that complicated:

1. Do a great job. It all starts there.

2. Run your business like a business.

3. Have systems for everything that you can
track and improve.

4. Keep marketing and selling what you
offer - every day.

That's it. If you do those 4 things you'll be
ahead of 97% of the people in the industry and
you'll do fine during this or any economy.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

systems, our operations manual and access to

Are You Missing This Key Ingredient?

My buddy AJ Roberts - the behind the scenes

guru for all of our projects - came and spent

the day with me & Holly to work on a few things.

By putting our heads together and really getting

after it, in one day we:

:: Created a quick product for Holly to offer to her

list, did a video sales letter *and* launched it.

:: Came up with a product idea for AJ, broke it

down into all the components necessary to get

it launched and put it to a timeline so he'll have

a new product on the market in 5 weeks.

:: Mapped out 7 other profit improvement strategies

we're going to immediately implement in our

businesses and put them to a takedown schedule.

Pretty productive considering we both were doing

all of our normal day to day stuff as well.

Are you missing out on teaming up with other

success minded fitness pros to mastermind,

network and make things happen?

I hope not, because this sort of thing is what our

businesses have been founded on.

Our involvement in the IYCA stemmed from

building a friendship with Brian Grasso at a live

event. That is now leading to a fitness franchise

too.

Our partnership with Jim came about the same way.

AJ joined our team after we built a relationship with

him in the same fashion too.

If you're not networking, learning, masterminding

and doing the things you *must* do to take your

business to the next level, you're destined for

mediocrity...or worse.

Today is your last chance to grab all of our fast action

bonuses for the Fast Track To Fitness Mil.lions LIVE

event we're holding in May.

Yes, we're giving you 3 extra incredible bonuses to

sign up for an event that I promise you will give

you the best ROI of anything you've ever done.

But only if you join today.

And if you're worried about cost, don't be. You

can pay in 4 installments of fifty bucks if you want.

Just get to New Jersey in May. I *promise* it will

be the best business decision you've ever made.

Grab your bonuses here:

http://www.fasttrackfitnessmillions.com/

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - If after a day in Jersey you don't think this

is the best business decision you've made - we'll

give you 3X your investment back.

No risk.

BIG reward.

Mother Nature’s Candy Bar?

It's 2:04 in the morning and I'm writing you as

I literally just walked in the door.

I made an unscheduled trip to Ohio to visit my

Mom, who lives about 3 and a half hours away.

I figured I'd tell you a quick and kind of interesting

story as I wind down so I can get some rest.

During my 7 hours on the road I made several stops

at gas station / convenient mart type places to get

gas, grab a drink, etc.

Well at the last one, as I checked out the cashier

asked me "Would you like to also add this bushel

of Mother Nature's Candy Bars to your purchase?"

Kinda stunned, I replied with something eloquent

like "huh?"

So he continued..."Mother Nature's Candy Bar, and

they are each individually wrapped."

I bought the bananas.

Then I asked him how often he get customers to take

him up on his offer.

He said about one out of every 5-6 people bought

a bushel of bananas.

So I asked why bananas.

He said the store manager told the cashiers they had

to offer something as an 'add on' to each customers

purchase, so he chose bananas - kind of as a joke.

After some people started buying, he stuck with it

and now it's kind of 'his thing' he said.

So let me ask you this: If he can upsell a bushel of

bananas at the point of sale in a gas station- isn't

there something you can upsell at the point of

sale in your business?

The answer is 'yes.'

And if you're not sure what that something is or

how to do it, no sweat...I'll teach you everything

about upsells in our Instant Fitness Income bonus

webinar when you enroll for the Fast Track To Fitness

Mil.lions Live event.

In fact I'll even throw in a couple of ready to use

upsell scripts for you to plug in and start using.

You can learn more about the event...and register

here:

OK, I'm going to bed now...talk to you tomorrow;)

Is Someone Chasing You?

Holly was reading an email to me from a customer

of hers that was complaining about interval training

as part of her fat lo.ss / fitness program.

I loosely quote:

"Holly, it seems that intervals are all about fat

lo.ss but I want to learn to run so I can 'get away' if

someone is chasing me."

Let's forget for a moment that this lady bought a

program titled Fit Yummy Mummy that's tagline

is about 'getting your body back' and is somehow

expecting it to double as a marathon or self defense

training manual.

What I want to focus on is what I told Holly when

she asked how she should respond. I said:

"You can't be all things to all people. If this

customer wants fat lo.ss and improved body

composition, then your program is perfect for her.

If she wants to become a distance runner, that's a

different goal and requires a different program.

If she wants to learn more about self defense...different

program.

Focus on helping people by doing what you do best and

If people need help achieving a goal outside the scope

of what you do, direct them to someone who can help."

But what I find is that most fitness pros try to be all

things to all people far to often...

"You want to lose 30 lbs, I'm your guy..."

"You want to cut your 40 time, I'm your guy..."

"You need to rehab your knee, I'm your guy..."

That's a real problem for a few reasons:

1. As a professional, you want to be a specialist,

not a generalist. It's easier to market and it

pays MUCH better.

2. If you step outside of your area of expertise

just to get a client you'll find yourself watching

the clock instead of enjoying your job.

3. You may not be the right person for every

client (sorry.)

So build your business around what you do enjoy

and specialize in...and it can be more than one area.

Just not every area.

You'll be happier and your income will get a

significant boost as a bonus;)

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S.- That's something that we've really focused

on in our businesses. There is a specific type of

fitness pro that we work with and specific things

we teach. If we aren't experts in something, we

find the leading expert in that area and add them

to the team.

You'll see over a dozen of those experts at our big

event, plus we've just announced 3 cool fast

action bonuses you'll get if you enroll during

the first 72 hours we're live. Check them out here:

Adapt…Or Else!

Recently, Jim, Nick and I were discussing how

so many niche publications were transitioning

from exclusively print magazines to either offering

an online option or going exclusively to a

downloadable version.

Fitness Management

Fitness Business Pro

Personal Fitness Professional

Even my favorite Ohio State Football magazine,

Bucknuts, is going exclusively digital.

Why are these magazines moving away from the

model that has worked in the publishing industry

for over 75 years?

Simple...the old way doesn't work like it used to.

They're adapting to the new way we go about getting

our information - because if they don't, they'll likely

die.

I have to imagine it's been a huge ordeal for these

somewhat large companies - but they did what had

to be done.

For us, as small businesses - change still isn't usually

fun, but it's easier.

We can be agile and move with what the market wants.

But just because we can doesn't always mean we do.

Right now the market for fitness is different - way

different - than it was 4, 3 or even 2 years ago.

Actually - it's changed quite a bit in just the last

12 months.

Are you adapting?

Hopefully you are - but if you aren't help is on the

way. I'll be talking about what you need to do to get

on the 'fast track' all week.

Get ready for some fun - and profits!

Pat

P.S. - We're also getting ready to open the doors

for our first ever Fast Track To Fitness Mil.lions

Live event later this week...a 3 day extravaganza

that's going to change a lot of fitness pros' lives.

A Tip From Peyton Manning?

I rarely email you on Sundays but I just saw

something on ESPN that served as a powerful

reminder for me - and should for you too.

They just showed a segment about how Peyton

Manning sends personal notes to players that he

admires and respects when they retire.

It was amazing how much impact a short note

had on these multi-mil.lionaire superstars.

They said that in the era of emails and text messages,

a handwritten note was a powerful indicator of

how Peyton felt about them.

If these guys that are used to people showering

attention on them and sending praise their way

seem truly honored and impressed by a personal

note - imagine how your clients and the members

of your personal network would feel if you took a

few minutes to send them a note.

OK - I'll let you get back to your Sunday...I just

thought that was too good a tip not to share;)

Are You Asking?

Earlier, Nick and I had our daily call with our club

Manager Lisa.

Each day we talk about the number of appointments

we have, the sales we're making and a few other club

related topics.

Lisa 'kills it' when it comes to sales. She probably has

the best closing percentage of any gym salesperson

I've seen - and I guess if I were to attribute it something,

I could narrow it down to 3 things:

1. She follows the system. She has scripts for calls

and tours and she follows them. She treats every

sales opportunity with great importance and it

pays off.

2. She hustles. She makes more phone calls than

anyone and is relentless at trying to generate

leads.

3. She asks everyone for referrals. I think this may

be the biggest one of all. We have referral systems

in place and she executes them to a 'T'.

There is no easier sale than a referral. Someone

the prospects know, like and trust recommends our

club because they love what we offer and Lisa

gets a pre-sold guest.

If you're not systematically asking your clients

for referrals, you're really missing out. So far

about 40% of our new members in 2009 have come

from this one source. So, if you'd like more

business...start asking for referrals.

Have a great weekend!

Pat

P.S. - I want to refer you to something REALLY cool.

You Should Quit!

If you want to accomplish more or earn more,

sometimes the best thing to do is 'quit.'

Quit?

Yes, quit.

Sometimes the easiest way to make things happen

in a positive fashion, for example...

:: Get more clients

:: Add new profit centers

:: Earn more

:: Start new businesses

:: Study more

:: Create new products

:: Write more

...is to quit doing some of the things that are standing in

the way of your progress.

Here are some ideas to get you rolling:

:: What low return projects can you quit spending time on?

:: What people that aren't supportive of you can you

spend less time with?

:: What websites can you quit spending time on?

:: What TV shows can you quit watching?

:: What expenses that are not providing much ROI can you

eliminate?

And one that may ruffle your feathers...

:: What excuses can you quit making?

So instead of quitting the way most people do...they

quit thinking big and they quit setting lofty goals...go a

different route and quit doing some of the things

that are standing in your way.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

Dear adsdsf,

Are you using the internet to market yourself, your products and your company? Is your strategy based on value and not advertising? Do you follow up weekly with customers, leads, end users and partners?

I’m A Sports Junkie

By now you probably know that I'm a sports-aholic.

During the summer there is a baseball game on pretty
much every night at our house.

In the fall, Saturdays are reserved for college
football - namely the Ohio State Buckeyes.

If I were going to choose my top 3 favorite TV show,
they'd be SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight and College
Gameday.

But to take it a step further, for the most part
my entire career has been based around sports. I
started with coaching baseball and moved into
training athletes.

Now it's come full circle with the IYCA and I get
to be part of an organization that empowers
coaches who mostly work with young athletes.

I'd say that's a HUGE part of why I love my 'job.'

I get to do things I love doing.

I hope you get to do the same.

In fact, I'm going to strongly suggest that if
you don't love your job / career / business - you
should start incrementally making the changes
necessary to put yourself in a position that
will allow you to love what you do.

It's often been said - "Find work that you love and
you'll never work another day."

Truer words were never spoken.

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - If you love training athletes, love sports
and want to build your business around that - you
need to do 2 things:

1. Be part of the IYCA. It's the best organization
in the world for fitness pros wanting to work with
young athletes.

2. Check out Pat Beith's Sports Camp Empire Program.

He's got some of the best coaches in the world
offering up their systems, strategies and secrets
for building and running ultra-successful camps. It
opens at 8 am EST - Check it out here:

It Was A Strange Week, aff

As you may have heard, Kentucky got hit
by a major winter storm last week.

Other than my truck getting stuck in the snow
for a bit - Holly, Tyler & I never really had any
problems - but for many of our friends weren't
quite as lucky.

We know plenty of people that still have no
electricity and may not have any for weeks to
come. One family that is friends of ours came to
stay with us for a few days since they had no
power at their home.

We have friends that had branches weighted down
with ice fall and do damage to their homes and cars.

All told over one-million people in KY have been
without electricity at some point as a result of this
storm.

Really - I'm telling you of this for a couple of reasons:
First: I'm truly grateful that so many fitness pros
have contacted me to see how we were over the
past several days.

It's wonderful to know how close of a community
we have here in our corner of the fitness industry.

Thank you.

Second: Don't take things for granted. For the most part
we are all so spoiled. If we lose internet connection for
a couple of hours we act like it's a tragedy. Seeing so
many people trying to simply keep themselves and their
families warm after they lose heat in their homes kinda
puts some of the things we worry about in perspective.

OK...back to business...get ready for a great week!

Dedicated to your success,

Pat

P.S. - Over the last week I've directed you to
a couple of videos my buddy Pat Beith created
about running successful sports camps.

Tomorrow at 8 a.m. EST he's going to open up
his Sports Camp Empire program.

trust me, you do - then check out this video
